The Scandinavian
Businessman's Club was formed in 1965 to encourage and promote trade,
culture, sports and other activities including social activities
between the Scandinavian countries and Canada and in furthering
the interests of the Scandinavian people in and around the City
of Edmonton.
To utilize the accumulated experience of the membership in assisting
individual members who require information in connection with commercial
matters such as customs tariffs, sales taxes, government policies,
etc.
(a) To promote better knowledge and understanding between the Scandinavian
countries and Canada
(b) To assist in a practical fashion any cultural exchange between
the Scandinavian countries and Canada
(c) To disseminate such information respecting Scandinavian matters
as may be desired.
(d) To hold such matters and social business gatherings as may further
the interests of the Society.
New members are welcome. Any person of Scandinavian original or
descent - (the term "Scandinavian" shall include Sweden,
Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland) together with the Consular
representatives of these countries regardless of their country of
origin and whose application shall be accepted by the Board of Directors,
shall be eligible to become a member of the Society, and upon assuming
the responsibilities and obligations of full membership shall so
long as all dues and charges are paid, be entitled to full membership
including voting rights therein.
The Society meets every third Wednesday, 6:00 pm at the Edmonton Petroleum
Club. We have a full course meal with aqvavit and a guest speaker
at each meeting.
Guests are welcome by phoning any of the above in advance.
Fees are $125.00 and meals $40.00 each.
