Curling League

Solglyt Lodge has had a curling league for many years. We curl every Friday night starting at 6:45 and play eight ends. All games are at the Saville Centre (University of Alberta's South Campus). The Sons of Norway plays a 14-game schedule, plus a fun night, Christmas party and our own version of the Silver Broom (handle).

Cost is ~$160.00 per season. The season begins in October each year and wraps up with the Silver Broom in March.

The 2008 curing season begins Friday, October 17, 2008.

Regular curlers and spares are welcome.

Sports Weekend

The Sports Weekend is an important annual Sons of Norway activity involving all Lodges in Alberta and Saskatchewan. A different lodge host the Sports Weekend each year. The event takes place over three days and usually is held between the last week of February and the second week of March. The weekend starts Friday with registration. On Saturday, the games take place during the day, followed by a banquet and dance at night. It ends Sunday with brunch and awarding of personal and team trophies.

All members are welcome to participate in four sports: curling, Norwegian whist, bowling and cross-country skiing.

The 2005 games were held in Lethbridge, Alberta, March 4-6, 2005.
The 2006 games were held in Calgary, Alberta, March 3-5, 2006.
The 2007 games were sponsored by Brubyen Lodge 4-576 Saskatoon
