For almost a century, the Sons of Norway has welcomed Edmonton-areas residents of Norwegian heritage and those interested in Norway.

Today, that tradition continues through Sons of Norway’s Solglyt Lodge 4-143. Our Edmonton lodge offers a variety of social, cultural and sports activities of interest to men, women and young people.

Solglyt Lodge links its members to a wider network of similar fraternal Sons of Norway lodges in Canada, the United States and Norway.

In addition to special social events, Solglyt (Norwegian for sunbeam) holds monthly meeting that include presentations about Norway and its traditions. Our lodge also sponsors several special interest groups, courses and programs. They include:

  • Scandinavian folk dancing for adults and youths
  • Genealogy and Norwegian conversation groups
  • Book (Norwegian literature in English translation), curling and sewing clubs
  • Traditional crafts such as Norwegian cooking, Hardanger embroidery, chip carving and rosemaling
  • Special annual events such as Lutefisk Dinner (January) and Syttende Mai Celebrations (May 17)

Please explore our website to discover more about these programs and other exiting opportunities available in the Sons of Norway.
